Caroline Field

Caroline Field

Caroline has worked in the Interior Design industry for over thirty years; designing, managing, and delivering domestic and international interior projects. Caroline has experience working on high end residential properties, hotels, and private clubs in urban and rural settings.

A chance introduction to David Mlinaric at a formative moment inspired Caroline to train at Inchbald and take a diploma in Architectural Interior Design. In the intervening years she ran her own interiors business and worked for some of the great British Interior Designers including Nina Campbell and Stefa Hart.

Caroline has a natural sensitivity to the wishes of a client and derives great satisfaction at interpreting their vision. She recognises the beauty in conceiving a stunning interior, and equal beauty in the delivery of a project efficiently and on budget.

Caroline brings these myriad skills as founding partner of Gorhambury Interiors: a partnership evolved from six inspiring years working alongside Rosie Grimston at Gorhambury House.

Rosie Grimston

Rosie Grimston

Gorhambury has provided Rosie with a decade of interior design experience and a ready-made portfolio to launch the business. Rosie has a unique perspective following her experience of being a “client”. She is equally used to working to tight deadlines and under pressure following her years running the Russian Works of Art department at Sotheby’s.

Asked at the outset what she was trying to achieve at Gorhambury, the answer was “Chatsworth on a budget”. Rosie used the existing collection to form the framework for the rooms, added twentieth century or newly commissioned works to fill the gaps. She was acutely aware of the social history of the house and enjoyed weaving this into the design of the rooms.

Rosie’s passion for interiors have been inspired by some of the extraordinary places she has lived including Sarawak, Malaysia, various cities in Russia and her childhood home Floors Castle. Floors’ interiors were most notably shaped by her American Great Grandmother May Goelet, 8th Duchess of Roxburghe at the turn of 20th century.

Rosie’s love of beautiful design and excellent craftsmanship is carried through to this new business.

Supporting talent in the industry

Gorhambury Interiors was formed in the final year of the renovation of Gorhambury House. This extraordinary project lasted well over a decade and involved some of the finest architects, designers, trades and craftsmen in the country.

Rosie Grimston, custodian and co-designer, was fortunate enough to work alongside and learn from Peter Inskip, Piers Westonholz, Stefa Hart and Caroline Field of Hambleton Decorating.

Rosie and Caroline have an unparalleled contact list of talented artists, artisans, furniture and rug designers, restorers and craftsmen. They love promoting and celebrating emerging talent and supporting specialists in their field.

The designers are undaunted by larger projects, however would equally love to work on the perfect studio apartment or its rural equivalent.
